JAYAPURA– The Papua Provincial Government held a ceremony to commemorate National Education Day (Hardiknas) 2025 at the Papua Governor’s Office Courtyard on Friday (May 2, 2025). The event was attended by hundreds of students, university students, and teachers from various schools and higher education institutions.
Before the ceremony began, two paragliders performed an aerial display above the venue, flying while carrying banners with the national education motto, Tut Wuri Handayani.
After circling in the sky several times, the paragliders landed smoothly at the edge of the ceremonial field. They then handed over the red and white flag to the flag-raising troop.
Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, led the National Education Day ceremony. Leaders from regional government agencies, the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, and community figures were also present.
Ramses Limbong stated that the 2025 National Education Day theme, Universal Participation to Realize Quality Education for All, carries important meaning. The theme signifies that all parties play a role in achieving quality education.
“The pillars of education are made up of teachers, students, parents, and the environment. The government cannot work alone; all parties, including the private sector and institutions, have an equal role,” said Ramses.
Ramses also encouraged students to take pride in being Papuan and Indonesian. “Without that sense of pride, they lack a foundation for their identity,” he said.
The governor further emphasized that education is a vital asset for shaping the future. “Success in education can become a foundation for contributing to the country, both locally and nationally,” he stated.
At the end of the ceremony, hundreds of students performed the Anak Indonesia Hebat (Great Indonesian Children) aerobic exercise in the middle of the Governor’s Office Courtyard. Afterwards, the Acting Governor of Papua and regional leaders joined the students in traditional Waisisi and Yospan dances on the field. ***
