JAYAPURA – The Acting Governor of Papua, Major General (Ret.) TNI Ramses Limbong, S.IP., M.Si.., received an audience visit from participants of the Field Work Practice (PKL) Program for Level I Batch I Strategic Intelligence Students of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) for 2025. The meeting occurred on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the Papua Governor’s Office.
Papua was chosen as the locus of the Field Work Practice activities due to its strategic geographical location, bordering several countries, as well as its cultural uniqueness and the complexity of its political and security challenges. In his remarks, the Acting Governor emphasized the vital role of strategic intelligence in supporting the development of Papua.
“I hope the students can provide constructive input through sharp intelligence approaches, thereby enriching policy and development strategy recommendations for Papua. Moreover, analysis from BIN is crucial in formulating future steps,” he stated.
Several strategic issues were discussed during the forum, including:
The role of Church denominations in maintaining peace and social stability within Papua’s communities.
Collaboration among stakeholders, including Ministries/Agencies, Regional Governments, and the Papua Special Autonomy Development Acceleration Steering Agency (BP3OKP), to strengthen development synergy.
The development of information technology infrastructure as a vital instrument for accelerating development and regional integration.
This audience session formed part of a field learning initiative based on social and geopolitical realities, while also reinforcing cooperation between the Regional Government and State Intelligence Agency in fostering stability and progress in the Land of Cenderawasih. ***
