JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government officially sent off Hajj pilgrims from Papua for the 2025 pilgrimage on Thursday (May 8).
The send-off ceremony was led by the Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, and held at the Hajj Dormitory in Kotaraja, Jayapura City.
The Governor reminded all prospective pilgrims to maintain their health and stamina throughout the pilgrimage and to ensure that all travel documents are complete.
“Follow all instructions from the organizing committee, behave respectfully at all times during the pilgrimage, help and care for fellow pilgrims,” he advised.
The Governor also mentioned the national send-off ceremony for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims which was conducted by President Prabowo Subianto.
He expressed hope that pilgrims from Papua would be able to adapt to the extreme weather conditions in the Holy Land.
“Our prayers go with all of you, that you may return to Papua safely, in good health, and without any shortcomings,” he concluded.
A total of 1,076 Hajj pilgrims from across Papua’s provinces and districts/cities will depart this year, divided into three flight groups.
Of these, 1,076 pilgrims include 419 men and 657 women. ***
