JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government held a coordination meeting on Wednesday (May 14) to establish an Integrated Task Force Operation for Managing Thuggery and Problematic Mass Organizations that disrupt public order, community safety, investments, and business activities.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Chief of Papua Police, the Chief of Staff of the XVII/Cenderawasih Military Command, and other relevant members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum.
The Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, stated that the formation of the task force is a follow-up to a circular letter from the Minister of Home Affairs and an order from the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs.
"The goal is to provide a sense of security to the public and investors in the region," said the Governor.
He explained that the establishment of this task force will help maintain public order and security in Papua Province, particularly in supporting industrial investment activities.
According to him, if the security situation is not conducive, investors will certainly hesitate to come to Papua.
"As of now, the situation in Papua is generally safe and under control from disturbances caused by mass organizations with thuggish tendencies," said Ramses.
He added that, to date, there have been no mass organizations registered with the Papua National Unity and Politics Agency that have exhibited behaviour causing public concern. ***
