JAYAPURA – The Acting Governor of Papua welcomed a courtesy visit from the Board of the Nusantara Interfaith and Cultural Harmony Forum (FORKOM-LKN) of Papua, aimed at strengthening synergy among community elements and maintaining social harmony in the Land of Cenderawasih. (June 4)
During the meeting, Acting Governor Ramses Limbong provided important directives to the FORKOM-LKN board, encouraging them to consistently serve as a government partner capable of offering solutions to various social issues in Papua Province. "Be an organization that solves problems. Let us become unifiers in the land of Papua,” stressed Ramses Limbong. He also urged FORKOM-LKN to organize inclusive activities during the upcoming Grand Deliberation (Mubes), involving various community associations in its implementation.
Furthermore, the Acting Governor emphasized that FORKOM-LKN must maintain neutrality throughout the stages of the Repeat Voting (PSU), which is currently in the campaign period. “Differences in political choices must not divide our unity. FORKOM-LKN must not get involved in supporting any candidate pair, so that the organization’s goals remain focused and unbiased,” he stated.
FORKOM-LKN Secretary General, Junaidi Rahim, shared that the organization serves as a platform uniting 18 community associations across Papua, committed to being a strategic partner to the government in addressing social issues in the region. FORKOM-LKN has existed for 15 years, with the current board inaugurated in 2021.
Funded independently and involving diverse associations including Perkumpulan Tabi, Saireri, and others, FORKOM-LKN is set to hold its 2nd Grand Deliberation (Mubes) in 2025. One of the key agendas of the event is the FORKOM-LKN Papua Award, which will honor public figures and community members in various categories such as: Papua Integrity Figure; Champion of Humanity and Peace; Promoter of Social Harmony and Unity; and other recognitions.
The audience session was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere. On this occasion, the Board also introduced FORKOM-LKN’s official tagline: “One Heart for the Red and White, NKRI Always in Our Hearts.” ***
