JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government, through the Department of Manpower, Cooperatives, and SMEs, in collaboration with related partners, organized a two-day Job Fair from June 18 to 19 at PTC Entrop.
Acting Regional Secretary of Papua, Suzana D. Wanggai, stated that this event is part of the government’s efforts to address the still relatively high unemployment rate in Papua.
“I see this as a shared responsibility to eliminate unemployment in Papua, and one of the ways is through this Job Fair,” said Suzana.
Suzana hopes similar events can be held twice a year, bringing in more companies and work partners from across Papua to help decrease unemployment.
Meanwhile, Acting Head of the Department of Manpower, Cooperatives, and SMEs Papua, Anwar Rumbouw, aims for this event to significantly reduce unemployment.
“We hope the unemployment figure, which is around 35,000 people, can be lowered through this activity,” he said.
The Job Fair is open to the public, including persons with disabilities, so everyone can visit the booths provided. ***
