JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government is calling on all citizens to actively participate and maintain a peaceful atmosphere during the re-vote for the Papua Gubernatorial Election, scheduled for August 6, 2025.
Acting Regional Secretary of Papua, Suzana Wanggai, emphasized that the success of the re-vote depends not only on the organizers but also on the active involvement of the public in maintaining order and respecting the democratic process.
“We want the re-vote to proceed in an orderly, safe, and democratic manner. The public is expected not to be easily provoked and to exercise their political rights responsibly,” said Suzana.
Yohanes Walilo, the Head of the Re-vote Task Force, conveyed a similar message. He urged all task force members to help raise public awareness about this democratic agenda, especially in the regions where the re-vote will take place.
“I ask all parties to help educate the public to cast their votes peacefully and actively. Democracy is not only about voting, but also about ensuring the process remains honest and fair,” Yohanes stated. ***
