JAYAPURA – Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, along with Acting Regional Secretary Suzana D. Wanggai, expressed their appreciation for the Colo Sagu Festival organized by the Jayapura City Police at Hmansaw Beach, Jayapura City.
The Governor believes that in three to four years, sago will not only be a local staple food but also a national one.
“Papua without sago feels empty,” emphasized Governor Ramses during the Colo Sagu Festival.
He stressed the importance of preserving ancestral heritage like sago, which not only holds high cultural value but also plays a vital role in supporting local food security.
Governor Ramses added that the Papua Provincial Government will continue to support every effort to develop and cultivate sago.
Meanwhile, Acting Regional Secretary Suzana D. Wanggai encouraged the public, especially young people, to take care of sago groves.
“Sago is life for the Papuan people and must be preserved to achieve food security,” she said.
She added that, philosophically, the Colo Sagu Festival has fostered a sense of harmony among the community. ***
