Acting Governor of Papua Agus Fatoni Leads Regional Apparatus Organizations Meeting Until Midnight
JAYAPURA – Tireless even after just arriving in the Land of Cendrawasih, Acting Governor Agus Fatoni led a meeting with the Heads of Regional Apparatus Organizations until midnight to discuss some strategic issues. The meeting took place in Jayapura, Papua, on Wednesday (July 9, 2025).
The meeting was attended by all Heads of Regional Apparatus Organizations, the Acting Regional Secretary, and key functional officials within the Papua Provincial Government. This strategic meeting was held intensively late into the night in a warm and interactive atmosphere.
"Let’s make the best use of this very short time," said Fatoni.
In his directive, Fatoni discussed various strategic steps for the implementation of governance in the Papua Province. Among the topics were the upcoming Repeat Election for Governor and Deputy Governor on August 6, financial governance, and support for the implementation of National Priority Programs.
"The priority programs of the President and Vice President or national priorities include the Merah Putih Cooperatives, Free Nutritious Meals, the provision of 3 million livable homes, and the People's Schools," Fatoni explained.
“This also includes controlling inflation, addressing stunting, eradicating extreme poverty, and boosting economic growth,” he added.
On the same occasion, Acting Regional Secretary Suzana D. Wanggai expressed great appreciation for Acting Governor Agus Fatoni. According to her, he is tireless and shows extraordinary enthusiasm in his work.
“Mr. Acting Governor has incredible energy, like an alkaline battery that never runs out. Since his inauguration, he has worked non-stop,” she said.
This is not without reason. Right after his inauguration in Jakarta on Monday (July 7), Acting Governor Agus Fatoni swiftly gathered all Heads of Regional Apparatus Organizations in Jakarta to deliver an initial briefing. The next day, he held a coordination meeting with Regents/Mayors across Papua to align governance execution and optimize regional revenue and expenditure.
Furthermore, Suzana stated that immediately upon arriving in Papua, Acting Governor Fatoni began communication and coordination with traditional leaders, religious figures, the Forum for Religious Harmony (FKUB), and the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, including the Papuan People's Assembly (MRP), the Papuan Parliament (DPR Papua), the regional military commander, and the Attorney General. Without pause, that evening he again held an intensive meeting with the Regional Apparatus Organizations to strengthen the direction of Papua’s development policies.
“We highly appreciate the passion and hard work of the Acting Governor. With leadership and performance like this, we hope Papua will continue to progress and its people become more prosperous,” said Suzana.
The swift and decisive actions of Acting Governor Agus Fatoni demonstrate a strong commitment to advancing inclusive, participatory, and sustainable development in Papua. The Papua Provincial Government is optimistic that synergy between central and regional governments will accelerate the achievement of national development goals in the Land of Cenderawasih. ***
