JAYAPURA – Acting Governor of Papua, Agus Fatoni, personally attended the Grand Congress of the Java-Madura Family Association (HKJM) of Papua Province to build synergy among fellow Indonesian citizens in Papua. The event took place at the LPTQ Building of Papua Province, Jayapura, Papua, on Saturday (July 12, 2025).
On this occasion, Fatoni expressed his appreciation for the successful organization of the HKJM congress. According to him, the event serves as a strategic platform to strengthen relationships among the Java-Madura community and other cultural associations in Papua.
“I appreciate the implementation of this congress. It is not only an internal deliberation but also a moment to strengthen unity and togetherness among fellow Indonesians in the Land of Papua,” said Fatoni.
Furthermore, Fatoni urged the public to be cautious in receiving information that may contain hate speech, slander, or hoaxes, as it could divide the unity of the nation.
“Let’s maintain harmony in Papua. Don’t easily believe in unverified information. Always check and recheck before sharing any information, especially on social media,” said Fatoni.
He also invited HKJM and all Papua residents to actively participate in the Repeat Election on August 6, 2025, for the sake of a healthy and peaceful democracy.
“Let’s make the upcoming revote a success. Use your voting rights responsibly, and show that the people of Papua love peace and uphold democracy,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of HKJM Papua Province, Sarminto, expressed his gratitude for the direct presence of Acting Governor Agus Fatoni, who took the time to attend and meet with the Java-Madura community and other associations in Papua.
“We are deeply honored by the presence of the Acting Governor. This shows his concern for diversity and brotherhood in Papua. We from HKJM are ready to support the government and ensure the success of the upcoming revote,” said Sarminto. ***
