JAYAPURA – The neutrality of Civil Servants in the Papua Gubernatorial Election Revote will be strictly monitored. The Regional Inspector of Papua Province, Danny Korwa, reminded all Civil Servants not to get involved in active politics.
Danny stated that Civil Servants' neutrality is mandated by Law Number 5 of 2014 concerning Civil Servants. Additionally, it is regulated in Government Regulation Number 94 of 2021 concerning Civil Servant Discipline.
“These regulations emphasize that civil servants must remain neutral at all stages of the regional head elections,” Danny said.
He made this statement in Jayapura on Monday (July 14, 2025), as part of preparations for the Papua Gubernatorial Election Revote.
He also added that there is a Joint Decree on the Guidelines for Fostering and Supervising Civil Servants' Neutrality, signed by several ministries and election supervisory bodies.
According to him, strict sanctions may be imposed on civil servants who violate the neutrality principle during the revote process. The sanctions range from moderate to severe disciplinary measures as outlined in Government Regulation Number 94 of 2021.
“I urge all civil servants to maintain professionalism and refrain from supporting any candidate. Neutrality is vital to preserving public trust in government bureaucracy,” he emphasized.
In addition to reminding civil servants, Danny encouraged the public to actively exercise their right to vote in the upcoming revote. He stated that public participation is a crucial element to ensure the democratic process proceeds smoothly.
“Let us come to the polling stations and vote for the leader who will oversee development in Papua.” ***
