JAYAPURA – To strengthen the management of Regional Sectoral Statistical Data and support data- driven development planning, the Papua Provincial Communication and Informatics Office (KOMINFO), in collaboration with the Regional Development Planning, Research, and Innovation Agency (BAPPERIDA), held a Technical Guidance session on e- Walidata for government agencies within the Papua Provincial Government (July 15).
This activity is a follow-up to the Minister of Home Affairs Circular No. 600.5.1. 5. 1/1236/Bangda dated February 25, 2026, which emphasizes the importance of accelerating DSSD management as the foundation for drafting strategic documents such as the RPJPD 2025–2045, RPJMD 2025–2045, RKPD 2026, and evaluation of RPJMD 2025–2029 through the SIPD (Regional Development Information System).
In his remarks, Head of Papua KOMINFO, Jeri A. Yudianto, highlighted the strategic role of each SKPD as both a data producer and a supportive walidata.
“The e- Walidata business process starts from planning, data collection, verification, to dissemination. Regional Government Work Units are not just inputting numbers into an application—they must ensure the accuracy of metadata, which will be validated before being published,” he stated.
Jeri also emphasized the importance of collaboration with Pusdalisbang Bapperida, as the secretariat of the One Data Forum of Papua, and BPS (Statistics Indonesia) as the data supervisor, to actively support data entry into e-Walidata and report it regularly to leadership. This is crucial to avoid delays in drafting the RKPD 2026, which is approaching.
He urged all participants, consisting of sub-division heads and program staff from each Regional Government Work Unit, to actively participate in the training and ensure timely data input according to the established timeline. He also expressed appreciation to the speakers from the Directorate of Regional Development Planning, Evaluation, and Information of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the NGO Scala team for facilitating the event.
“It's never too late to learn. Quality data is the key to smart planning and impactful development,” Jeri concluded.
Through this cross-sector collaboration, the Papua Provincial Government hopes that all stakeholders increasingly understand that data is not merely numbers but the foundation of smart, inclusive, and sustainable development. ***
