SERUI – Acting Governor of Papua, Agus Fatoni, accompanied by Acting Chair of the Family Welfare and Empowerment Program Mobilization Team, Tyas A. Fatoni, visited the Kosiwo Community Health Center in Kosiwo District, Yapen Islands, on Thursday (July 31, 2025). During the visit, Fatoni distributed various aid packages, including vitamins and milk for children.
“We brought aid from the provincial government and the Family Welfare and Empowerment Program, including 44,000 mosquito nets, 1,000 packs of milk and nutritional supplements, as well as vitamin A and B for toddlers, pregnant women, and adolescent girls,” Fatoni stated.
He expressed hope that the aid would positively impact the well-being of the Kosiwo community.
“We hope that this assistance will truly benefit the people—making us healthier and contributing to the development of superior, intelligent, and character-driven human resources,” he added.
Fatoni also took the opportunity to remind the public of the importance of preserving the region’s peaceful and conducive environment. He emphasized that peace and harmony are crucial for continued development and economic growth.
“We must maintain this peaceful atmosphere so that it can continue to flourish—ensuring that development progresses smoothly, the economy grows, and Papua moves steadily toward prosperity,” he explained.
Also present at the event, Yapen Islands Regent Benyamin Arisoy highlighted the importance of health services in the region. He noted that all 17 districts in the Yapen Islands are equipped with Community Health Centers.
“This facility is truly valuable for the people of Kosiwo. It enables them to access proper medical services close to home,” said Benyamin. ***
