JAYAPURA – With the Re-Vote scheduled for August 6, 2025, the Papua Provincial Government is focusing closely on preparations. At a coordination meeting hosted by the Papua Provincial General Election Commission, Regional Secretary Suzana D. Wanggai, representing the Acting Governor of Papua, urged strict adherence to the logistics distribution schedule.

“Ensure that logistics arrive on time at all polling stations. The heads of the General Election Commission in every regency and city must actively monitor and provide updates on the distribution process,” Suzana emphasized on Saturday, August 2, 2025.

Diana Dorthea Simbiak, Chairperson of the Papua Provincial General Election Commission, reported that logistics distribution commenced on August 2 and is planned for completion by August 5, one day before the PSU. A symbolic handover event will take place in Jayapura City on Monday, August 4, at the General Election Commission Office, with attendance from the General Election Commission of Indonesia.

The meeting also discussed challenges such as limited transportation facilities in some areas and adverse weather conditions, including drought affecting several rivers, as reported by Amandus Situmorang of the Papua Provincial Election Supervisory Board.

Held both offline and online at the General Election Commission meeting room, the coordination meeting involved the heads of the General Election Commission and secretaries from nine regencies and cities, as well as the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, the Regional Secretary, relevant regional work units, and the Papua Election Supervisory Board.

Concluding the meeting, Suzana called on regions facing transportation difficulties to intensify coordination with service providers and emphasized careful handling of logistics:

“Provide layered security measures to protect logistics from damage caused by water splashes or extreme temperatures during transit,” she said.

Suzana expressed hope for a smooth and successful re-vote process.

“We pray that the re-vote will run without disruption and conclude successfully so Papua can have its leaders for the next five years.” She also called on security forces to provide comprehensive protection throughout the re-vote to maintain safety and order.

“Invite all family members with voting rights to come to the Polling Stations on August 6. As responsible citizens, we must actively participate to ensure the success of this Re-Vote,” Suzana concluded.
