JAYAPURA – Acting Governor of Papua, Agus Fatoni, officially inaugurated 32 outstanding youths representing regencies and cities across Papua Province as members of thePasukan Pengibar Bendera Pusaka(Flag Hoisting Troop) for the commemoration of Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day. The inauguration ceremony was held solemnly at Lukmen Hall, State Building, Jayapura, Papua, on Saturday (August 16, 2025).
The event was attended by officials from the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum of Papua Province, government representatives, and the proud families of the Paskibraka participants, who came to provide moral support.
“With gratitude to Almighty God, today I, as Acting Governor of Papua, officially inaugurate you as members of the Red and White Flag Hoisting Troop, who will serve at Mandala Stadium, Jayapura, during the commemoration of the 80th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17, 2025. May God Almighty grant you grace and guidance in carrying out this noble duty to the nation,” Fatoni declared.
Fatoni emphasized that all inaugurated members will have the honor of serving as flag bearers during both the raising and lowering of the national flag on Independence Day.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all Paskibraka members and their families. This is an honor and a source of pride—out of thousands of youths in Papua, you have been chosen to carry out this important national duty,” he stated.
On this occasion, Fatoni also reminded the youths to continue improving themselves through training, learning, and building character.
“So that in the future, you may succeed as independent, intelligent, and high-integrity young men and women—and may you carry out tomorrow’s duties with excellence,” Fatoni added.
He concluded by stressing that the Paskibraka participants are the pride of Papua. “All of you chosen today are truly the best of the best. This is something we should all be proud of,” Fatoni affirmed. ***
