JAYAPURA – Acting Governor of Papua, Agus Fatoni, delivered a keynote address at the Opening of the Public Lecture for the 2025/2026 Academic Year of Cenderawasih University. The event, held in a hybrid format via Zoom, was attended by new students along with senior student representatives from various faculties at Cenderawasih University, Jayapura, on Tuesday (August 19, 2025).
On this occasion, Fatoni encouraged students from all faculties to continuously develop themselves and strengthen their human resource capacity to build a brighter future for Papua. According to him, personal excellence is shaped by four essential traits: being knowledgeable, intelligent, creative, and innovative.
“Knowledgeable people are those who thirst for knowledge and information. Intelligence means being able to apply knowledge in everyday life. Creative means thinking outside the box, and innovative means making breakthroughs with well-prepared strategies,” Fatoni explained.
He further emphasized the importance of self-awareness, urging students to recognize their strengths and weaknesses and to learn from life’s experiences as the best teacher. He also called on them to consistently engage in self-reflection, correct negative traits, and maximize their potential.
“Success is not reserved only for the wealthy or those from big cities. Success belongs to anyone determined and earnest. No matter where we come from, what truly matters is our spirit and effort,” he said.
Fatoni also encouraged students to strive to become the best version of themselves, not merely good or fortunate.
“We must cultivate five dimensions of intelligence: intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, and moral intelligence. That is what it means to be a truly good person. Be the best, and be good,” he stressed.
Additionally, Fatoni reminded students to use social media wisely and to actively share positive messages about Papua.
“Do not let Papua be tainted by hoaxes, hate speech, or division. Your task is to bring light, spread goodness, and showcase Papua’s rich culture and natural beauty to the world,” he urged.
At the same event, Rector of Cenderawasih University, Dr. Oscar Oswald O. Wambrauw, expressed his appreciation for Fatoni’s presence, noting that his message was highly meaningful in preparing students for both academic life and future careers.
“The Acting Governor has provided enlightenment, motivation, and encouragement that new students greatly need as they embark on their studies. For senior students, his words serve as a reminder and reinforcement to be better prepared for the job market,” the Rector stated. ***
