JAYAPURA – Acting Governor of Papua, Agus Fatoni, together with Acting Chairperson of the Family Welfare Empowerment Mobilization Team, Tyas A. Fatoni, attended the farewell and welcome ceremony for Brig. Gen. (Mar) Freddy J. H. Pardosi, outgoing Commander of Main Naval Base X Jayapura, and welcomed the new Commander of Naval Regional Command X, Maj. Gen. (Mar) Werijon. The event was held at Lukmen Hall, Jayapura, Papua, on Wednesday (August 20, 2025).
“We are grateful that we can hold this event with joy, solemnity, and warmth,” said Fatoni.
On this occasion, Fatoni expressed his gratitude for the dedication of Brig. Gen. (Mar) Freddy J. H. Pardosi during his seven-month tenure as Commander of Main Naval Base X Jayapura.
“On behalf of the Papua Provincial Government, civil society, the military, and all elements, we sincerely thank you for your dedication. We also extend our apologies for any shortcomings or mistakes on our part, which were never intentional,” Fatoni added.
“We all share the same goal—the government will always support the progress and success of the region. Therefore, unity, solidarity, brotherhood, harmony, and the peaceful life nurtured in Papua remain our collective responsibility to uphold,” he continued.
Fatoni also welcomed the new Commander of Naval Regional Command X, Maj. Gen. (Mar) Werijon, who had been inaugurated on August 10, 2025, by President Prabowo Subianto. He called on all stakeholders to work together for the advancement of Papua.
“Therefore, we must continue to strengthen cooperation, maintain solidarity, and preserve unity and harmony. Hopefully, through this, we can realize a safe, peaceful, tolerant, and conducive Papua—an advanced and prosperous Papua that we can achieve together,” Fatoni emphasized.
At the same event, Brig. Gen. (Mar) Freddy J. H. Pardosi also expressed his gratitude for the strong synergy and extraordinary support from all parties. He hoped that the peaceful and prosperous atmosphere in Papua would continue to be preserved.
“We all hope that peace and prosperity will always prevail in this land. Hopefully, in the future, in our beloved Papua, this hope can truly be realized,” said Pardosi.
Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. (Mar) Werijon, the new Commander of Naval Regional Command X, stated that building Indonesia—especially Papua—toward greater prosperity requires collective hard work. Therefore, he urged all parties to collaborate and unite in building a more prosperous Papua.
“I humbly ask for your prayers and support so that I can carry out this mandate properly and contribute meaningfully to Papua,” he said. ***
