JAYAPURA – Acting Governor of Papua, Agus Fatoni, is urging the faster realization of Papua’s Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget for the current fiscal year. As of now, Papua Province’s budget realization has reached 51 percent.
“This is already quite good, but we need to push it further. Toward the end of the year, we must continue to maximize both expenditure and revenue realization. Continuous evaluations are being carried out so that budget implementation is more effective and well-targeted,” said Fatoni at the State Building, Jayapura, Papua, Tuesday (Sept 2, 2025).
The Provincial Government routinely holds weekly evaluation meetings to monitor progress. From the latest evaluation, one of the regional agencies with the highest achievement is the National and Political Unity Agency, which has already reached 86 percent.
Fatoni explained that programs or activities that are difficult to implement will immediately undergo refocusing or budget reallocation. In addition, efficiency measures are continuously implemented in line with directives from the central government.
“Any activities that are difficult to implement will be refocused, and we will make reallocations. This also applies to budgets that are not well-targeted,” he stated.
Furthermore, Fatoni emphasized that accelerating budget absorption should not only aim to meet numerical targets but also to provide tangible benefits for the community.
“We continue to maximize budget realization, but it should not just be carried out as a formality. It must have an impact on the community. The budget should not only be absorbed but also deliver real benefits,” he stressed.
Fatoni highlighted that the regional financial management cycle must be carried out in an orderly manner—from planning, budgeting, and implementation to accountability—while fully complying with prevailing regulations.
“I often remind colleagues in the Provincial Government to keep working hard. Here in Papua, we must work even harder so that the results can be more optimal,” said Fatoni.
“And most importantly, we must do everything according to the rules and ensure accountability in line with existing regulations,” he added. ***
