JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial House of Representatives (DPR Papua) held a Plenary Meeting with the agenda of presenting the Stage II Recess Report and the Address of the Special Committee on the Follow-Up to the Audit Report of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia on the 2024Regional Government Financial Report of Papua Province, Monday (Sept 8, 2025).
The plenary session was chaired by Deputy Speaker I of Papua House of Representatives, Herlin Beatrix M. Monim, and was attended by a quorum of the total House of Representatives members.
In her remarks, Deputy Speaker I emphasized that the recess is a constitutional obligation of legislators to listen to the aspirations of the people while ensuring the sustainability of regional development. The Papua House of Representatives carries out recesses three times a year as part of its political and moral responsibility to constituents.
Meanwhile, through the Special Committee on the Follow-Up of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia, Audit Report on the 2024 Regional Government Financial Report, the Papua Provincial House of Representatives also presented several strategic recommendations to strengthen regional financial governance. The council requested the Acting Governor to instruct all relevant regional agencies to follow up on both the recess outcomes and the committee’s recommendations in the form of concrete programs and activities in line with prevailing regulations.
On behalf of the Acting Governor, Acting Regional Secretary of Papua Province, Suzana Wanggai, conveyed her appreciation and gratitude to the Papua House of Representatives for organizing the Stage II Recess and the work of the Special Committee of the Regional Government Financial Report. She affirmed that the Provincial Government is committed to following up on the results of the recess in accordance with statutory regulations, while also considering the fiscal capacity of the region.
“The outcomes of Papua Provincial House of Representatives recess serve as important input for the Regional Government in formulating development programs, while the recommendations of the Special Committee of the Follow-Up to the Audit Report on the 2024 Regional Government Financial Report will be followed up as part of efforts to improve governance so it becomes more transparent and accountable,” Suzana stated in her remarks.
Through synergy and collaboration between the House of Representatives and the Papua Provincial Government, it is expected that regional development will become more targeted, financial management will improve in quality, and governance will be realized in a clean, transparent, and accountable manner. ***
