JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government expressed its appreciation for the Garuda Travel Fair (GATF) 2025, held in Jayapura from October 24 to 26, 2025. The event is regarded as being in line with the government’s efforts to stimulate community-based economic growth and maintain price stability in Papua.
The Head of the Economic Bureau of the Papua Provincial Secretariat, Andri, stated that the travel fair received full support from the provincial government, as it has proven to deliver tangible benefits to the public. In addition to helping control inflation, the event also stimulates local economic activity through ticket sales and travel-related transactions.
“The government supports this kind of event because its impact is directly felt by the community. Besides strengthening the tourism sector, the travel fair also helps curb inflation, which usually tends to rise toward the end of the year,” he said in Jayapura on Friday (October 24, 2025).
Andri added that experiences from previous years have shown strong public enthusiasm for the event.
“According to Garuda Indonesia’s report, ticket sales have continued to increase each year, reaching around Rp8–9 billion last year,” he noted.
Meanwhile, General Manager of Garuda Indonesia Jayapura Branch Office, Innu Al Kautsar, stated that the GATF represents a form of collaboration between the airline and the local government to help maintain economic stability.
“This travel fair provides opportunities for the public to access more affordable airfares while contributing to economic growth in Papua,” Innu said.
He added that the event, held in collaboration with Bank Mandiri, featured special ticket promotions for both domestic and international routes, offering the public more travel options. ***
