JAYAPURA – Papua Deputy Governor Aryoko Rumaropen stated that ahead of the National Religious Holidays—Christmas and New Year—economic activity among the people of Papua increases significantly.
According to him, traditions of sharing, shopping for necessities, and increased community mobility require the availability of sufficient, fit-for-circulation, and easily accessible Rupiah currency.
“This is in line with our commitment to realizing a productive and economically stable Papua,” Deputy Governor Aryoko said.
He noted that the adequate availability of small-denomination banknotes also helps prevent price-rounding practices that could add to the financial burden on the public.
Therefore, Bank Indonesia’s strategic steps in ensuring a sufficient supply of Rupiah currency during the Christmas and New Year period represent a tangible contribution to the comfort and welfare of the people of Papua.
He further explained that in 2025, several service enhancements will have been implemented that are highly beneficial to the public.
These include the expansion of mobile cash services focused on houses of worship and Christian schools from December 8 to 23, 2025, as part of a pro-public service orientation aimed at reaching communities across various regions of Papua.
In the spirit of digital transformation, the Papua Provincial Government supports the use of QRIS as a fast, easy, affordable, safe, and reliable payment instrument.
“This effort also supports the Productive Papua mission, which demands efficiency and innovation across all economic sectors,” he concluded. ***
