JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Office of Trade and Industry conducted inspections and data collection at several public fuel stations in Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, and Keerom Regency on Monday (December 8).
Acting Head of the Papua Provincial Office of Trade and Industry, A. Y. Imbenai, explained that the activity was a follow-up to a series of programs initiated by the Papua Provincial Government under the direction of the governor ahead of the celebrations of Christmas, New Year, Chinese New Year, as well as Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.
“The governor has emphasized that the public should not panic ahead of major religious holidays. The government is obliged to ensure public comfort, both in terms of the availability of basic necessities and fuel,” he said.
During the inspection, the UPTD team tested several fuel dispenser samples at the stations.
“There must be no manipulation of measurements at the point of sale. Measuring devices must meet established standards. Therefore, the team brought special testing equipment to re-measure fuel dispensing,” he explained.
The measurement results for each type of fuel will be analyzed and communicated to the fuel station operators.
The office also urged the public to remain calm and avoid panic while carrying out activities ahead of the Christmas and New Year period.
“The distribution of all fuel types is secure. This supervision aims to ensure that no individuals take advantage of the holiday momentum by reducing fuel volumes and harming the public,” he concluded. ***
