JAYAPURA – Ahead of the holy month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, the Papua Provincial Government has assured the public that the supply of beef and goat meat remains safe and under control. (3/2)
The Head of the Papua Provincial Agriculture Office, Lunanka Daimboa, as the technical agency responsible for the livestock sector, emphasized that Papua's beef and goat meat needs are still supplied from outside the region. Even so, in terms of availability, the supply is considered sufficient to meet public demand during Ramadan and Eid.
"The availability of beef and goat meat in Papua Province is still supplied from outside the region, but nationally, the Central Government continues to make efforts to stabilize supply and prices. Although prices in Papua are above the national average, the government and business actors remain committed to ensuring that beef and goat meat supplies are sufficient through Eid al-Fitr," Lunanka said.
He further explained that the Papua Provincial Government is actively monitoring the prices and stocks of strategic commodities, including beef and goat meat. This monitoring is carried out regularly and in an integrated manner through regional inflation control meetings held every week.
"In inflation control meetings, not only are beef and goat meat of concern, but also other essential staple commodities. This step is taken to ensure supply stability and maintain the public's purchasing power," he added.
The Papua Provincial Government continues to strengthen coordination with the Central Government, regency and city governments, as well as business actors, to maintain smooth distribution and the availability of strategic food commodities, so that the public can observe the fasting month and celebrate Eid peacefully. ***
