JAYAPURA – Strengthening basic education services in border areas was the focus of a visit by Women's Solidarity for Indonesia (Seruni) of the Red and White Cabinet to SD Negeri Mosso, Muara Tami District, Jayapura City, on Wednesday (January 28, 2026).
The activity was accompanied by the distribution of social aid and a direct inspection of the school's condition.
The assistance provided included food packages, school supplies, clean water facilities, and other educational support facilities.
The handover was carried out by the Head of Division IV of Seruni, the women's organization of the Red and White Cabinet, Mrs. Sri Suparni Bahlil, as part of the organization's concern for the community and the education sector in the RI–Papua New Guinea border area.
In her remarks, Mrs. Sri Suparni Bahlil said that the visit aimed to directly observe the condition of communities and schools in Papua, including border regions.
"I hope the assistance provided can support clean water needs and help ensure the smooth running of teaching and learning activities," she said.
The series of activities was also attended by the Governor of Papua, the Chair of the Papua Province Family Welfare Movement, as well as members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum of Papua Province and Jayapura City. The visit was marked by tree planting in the school yard as part of support for a healthy and sustainable learning environment.
The Principal of SD Negeri Mosso, Stevanus Mandowen, explained that the number of students currently stands at 98, consisting of 85 children from Kampung Mosso and 13 children who are citizens of Papua New Guinea.
"There are 11 teaching staff members, consisting of six civil servants and five government contract teachers. Some classrooms have been rehabilitated, but the arrangement of the school yard still requires further attention," he said.
Papua Governor Matius Fakhiri expressed appreciation for the support of the Seruni Red and White Cabinet in strengthening education and basic public services in border communities.
"This synergy is important to encourage equal access to quality education while also strengthening the state's presence in border areas," he said. ***
