JAYAPURA — Papua Governor Matius D. Fakhiri spoke about plans to redevelop the Imbi Park area as a public space and a center for community activity while attending a fundraising meal for the construction of the Port Numbay Classis Office Building on Sunday (15/2).
According to the governor, the area will be arranged so that it becomes a gathering place for residents as well as a venue to promote various traditional Papuan handicrafts.
"It is hoped that this redevelopment will encourage community economic growth and strengthen the function of public space in Jayapura City," he said.
On the same occasion, Fakhiri also expressed his commitment to supporting the construction of the Port Numbay Classis Office Building by assisting with 3 billion Rupiah.
He asked the construction committee to meet with him specifically at the governor's office to discuss the support.
"I ask the construction committee to come and meet me personally at the office. From the governor, I will provide 3 billion Rupiah to repair and build the Classis Office facilities," he said before church leaders, customary leaders, religious leaders, and representatives of 51 Port Numbay congregations.
Fakhiri emphasized the important role of the church in building the spiritual and social life of the Papuan people.
He also invited congregants to actively participate in supporting the development of church service facilities as a shared responsibility of the faithful. ***
