JAYAPURA — Papua Governor Matius D. Fakhiri will begin the Safari Ramadan 1447 Hijri activities.
The Ramadan Safari is an annual agenda of the Papua Provincial Government as a form of concern and closeness between regional leaders and the community. The activities are planned to include breaking the fast together, as well as congregational Isha and Taraweeh prayers.
Governor Fakhiri said that, internally, the Ramadan Safari had already begun at the prayer room of the Papua Governor's Office. However, visits to mosques outside the office complex will start after he completes his official duties in Jakarta.
"The Ramadan Safari will cover some areas, including Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, and Keerom Regency. If time permits, the visits will also be expanded to several other regencies in Papua," he said.
In addition to the iftar and Taraweeh prayer agenda, the Governor also plans to use the occasion of Friday prayers as a way to strengthen ties with communities in various regions.
According to him, the Ramadan Safari is not merely a ceremonial agenda, but a manifestation of the government's commitment to maintaining togetherness and strengthening interfaith harmony in Papua.
"The Papua Provincial Government continues to give balanced attention to all religious activities," he concluded. ***
