JAYAPURA — The Papua Provincial Government has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining order and transparency in the management of regional assets following the circulation of a viral video allegedly showing unauthorized charges imposed on residents at the Kotaraja Autonomous Office area in Jayapura City.
Through Firdaus Failu, Head of the Retribution Division at the Papua Provincial Revenue Agency, the government issued an official clarification stating that, as of now, there is no policy in place to charge fees for the public's use of the Autonomous Office yard as a sports facility.
Firdaus emphasized that any policy involving the collection of regional service fees must be based on applicable regulations and go through an open public socialization process. It must also be accompanied by official information regarding the tariff amount, legal basis, and the use of tickets as valid proof of payment.
He stressed that, based on internal coordination with the General Bureau and the receiving treasurer, there is no official policy concerning the collection of entrance fees at the location in question.
"We urge the public not to make payments for any charges that have no legal basis or official announcement," he said.
He added that if people encounter similar practices involving government-owned assets, they are asked to report them immediately to the relevant authorities.
"As of now, the facilities in the Autonomous Office area for sports activities can still be used free of charge by the public, while everyone is encouraged to continue maintaining order and cleanliness in the environment," he concluded. ***
