JAYAPURA — The Papua Provincial Government has confirmed that the free sea travel program for Eid 2026 is now available for the public.
Travel registration is being handled through the ship operators serving routes in each respective area.
Acting Head of the Papua Transportation Agency, Mathius Wally, said that people do not need to come to a government office to register.
"The registration process is handled directly by the ship operators according to each departure area," Wally said.
According to him, this mechanism was designed to make the service easier for people to access in various regions.
"Residents in Jayapura City can register through ship operators operating in Jayapura, while people in Biak, Waropen, and Mamberamo can access the service through local operators," he added.
He said the Papua Transportation Agency has distributed registration information through various channels, including flyers containing the contact numbers of ship operators.
"People who need additional explanation can still contact the Transportation Agency for further information," he said.
According to him, this free sea travel program is provided to help support public mobility during the Eid period.
"We hope this facility can be used as well as possible by residents who will be traveling between regions," he concluded. ***
