JAYAPURA — The Papua Provincial Government is encouraging the involvement of universities in the implementation of various national strategic programs in the region. This step is being taken to strengthen the quality of planning and execution of development programs.
Acting Regional Secretary of Papua, Christian Sohilait, said that intellectual support from academics is needed in carrying out the government's priority programs.
"There are national strategic programs such as nutritious meals, Red and White cooperatives, and people's schools that require intellectual contributions from universities," Christian said in Jayapura on Wednesday (March 25, 2026).
According to him, input from universities can help the regional government formulate more accurate and effective steps in implementing programs in the field.
"They provide input that can help the government carry out these programs," he said.
He added that although the regional government is facing fiscal limitations, collaboration with universities remains an important part of supporting development in Papua.
The Papua Provincial Government hopes that synergy between the government and universities can continue to be strengthened to ensure that national strategic programs run optimally and deliver real benefits to the public. ***
