JAKARTA — The planned development of rail transportation in Papua is expected not only to support public mobility but also to strengthen goods distribution and regional economic growth.
Papua Governor Matius D. Fakhiri said that the railway is intended not only as a means of passenger transportation, but also to support logistics transport.
"In the future, the railway will not only serve the public, but also support the movement of goods," he said.
President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia, Bobby Rasydin, said that railway development in Papua has the potential to open new access and improve the distribution of goods and services.
"From an economic perspective, this will open access and encourage local economic growth," he said.
The government hopes that this development will strengthen regional connectivity and help improve the welfare of communities in Papua. ***
