JAKARTA — The Papua Provincial Government, together with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), will carry out an initial survey as part of the planning process for railway development in Papua. The survey is scheduled to take place in the near future.
Papua Governor Matius D. Fakhiri said that an expert team from PT KAI, together with a team from the regional government, will go directly into the field to assess the potential routes to be developed.
"The plan is that by the end of this month, the team from PT KAI, together with the provincial team, will conduct a route survey," Fakhiri said.
According to him, this stage is an important part of ensuring that the planning is carried out thoroughly before moving on to the next phase.
The Papua Provincial Government believes that a technical assessment process is necessary so that infrastructure development can proceed in accordance with the region's needs. ***
