JAYAPURA — The Papua Provincial Government is expanding its specialist doctor education program by preparing to open an obstetrics and gynecology (ob-gyn) program in cooperation with Gadjah Mada University (UGM).
Acting Director of RSUD Jayapura, Andreas Pekey, said that the cooperation agreement is planned to be signed in May 2026.
"After the cooperation agreement with UGM is signed, we will move on to the admissions process," he said.
According to him, the training program is planned to begin in the middle of the year, alongside the anesthesiology program that has already started earlier.
"Anesthesiology will start in June–July, and ob-gyn is also planned for the same period," he said.
This development is expected to broaden access to specialist medical education for doctors in Papua. ***
