JAYAPURA — Specialist doctor education in Papua is now being developed through two mechanisms, namely university-based and hospital-based pathways. This system is being implemented to strengthen medical education services in the region.
Acting Director of RSUD Jayapura, Andreas Pekey, said that the university-based pathway is carried out through Cenderawasih University, while the hospital-based pathway is conducted through the Ministry of Health.
"Before the program was opened, a visitation was carried out to assess the readiness of facilities, teaching staff, and support from network hospitals," Andreas said.
According to him, RSUD Jayapura serves as the main teaching hospital, supported by other hospitals in the learning process.
"We hope this system can accelerate the fulfillment of the need for specialist doctors in Papua," he concluded. ***
