JAYAPURA — The Papua Provincial Government has begun disbursing Additional Employee Income for civil servants under a gradual payment scheme. The initial stage focuses on payment for January, with subsequent months settled in sequence.
Papua Governor Matius D. Fakhiri said the policy was taken to ensure the government's obligations continue to be met amid the region's financial conditions.
"We will pay the Additional Employee Income because they have already worked. Payments will begin on January first, and then the next two months will also be settled," the Governor said.
According to him, the provision of Additional Employee Income remains part of efforts to maintain civil servants' performance in delivering public services.
"This is to motivate all civil servants to work optimally in providing services to the community," Governor Fakhiri said.
"We understand that the current economic situation is still not good, so the government must be able to provide stimulus to civil servants," he added.
In addition, he reminded recipients that the use of Additional Employee Income should have an impact on the local economy, particularly for business actors in the region.
"I hope this money will be spent among the community. So it should not be used for trips outside Papua, but spent in the neighborhoods where each person lives."
"That way, the community's economy can grow, MSMEs can develop, and this can contribute to economic growth in Papua Province," he concluded. ***
