JAYAPURA — The Papua Provincial Government, through the Public Works and Public Housing Agency, continues to accelerate data collection for recipients of a central government housing program targeting 2,500 housing units across Papua.
Acting Head of the Papua Provincial Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing, Settlement Areas and Land Agency, Natirmalus D. Renyaan, said the process is currently still at the stage of verifying residents' data.
Officers have even had to go directly to villages to ensure the administrative documents of prospective aid recipients are complete.
"Data collection is still ongoing because we have to proactively visit the villages," he said.
He explained that the central government's housing program consists of two schemes: the construction of special housing in the form of new units, and stimulus assistance in the form of building materials such as roofing sheets, timber, and nails.
"Of the total 2,500 housing units prepared, most are located in Jayapura City. However, the overall construction realization target is still awaiting confirmation from the central government," he said.
He added that the housing program is prioritized for Indigenous Papuans, but the government remains open to allowing non-Indigenous Papuan residents to be registered as recipients, in accordance with the policy that will be established. ***
