JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government, through the Papua Provincial Health Office, continues to strengthen health services in line with the increasing needs of the community due to population growth in recent years.
Head of the Papua Health Office, Beeri I.S Wopari, stated that the increase in population has directly impacted the rising demand for health services at various facilities, including community health centers and hospitals.
According to him, several health facilities such as RSUD Dok II Jayapura, RS Abepura, and RS Jiwa Abepura have experienced an increase in patient visits in recent years.
"This has become a concern for the regional government to continue making adjustments and gradually improving the capacity of health services," he said.
He emphasized that the Papua Provincial Government is committed to carrying out comprehensive improvements, both in terms of service management, strengthening service functions, and improving health facilities and infrastructure.
In efforts to improve service quality, special attention is also being given to mental health services.
"RS Jiwa Abepura, which currently serves as a referral center in the Land of Papua, continues to be strengthened so that it can provide optimal services for the community."
In addition, the regional government is encouraging the development of mental health services in regencies/cities and newly established provinces, so that access to services can become more evenly distributed and the burden of referrals can be managed more effectively. ***
