JAYAPURA – The Majelis Rakyat Papua expressed its full support for the policy direction of the Papua Provincial Government under the leadership of Papua Governor, Matius D. Fakhiri.
The support was conveyed during a meeting and dialogue with officials of the Papua Provincial Government in Jayapura on Wednesday (6/5/2026).
During the meeting, Governor Matius D. Fakhiri reaffirmed his commitment to leading an inclusive, transparent government focused on the welfare of indigenous Papuans.
Fakhiri stated that synergy between the regional government and cultural representative institutions, such as the Majelis Rakyat Papua, is essential for maintaining social stability and accelerating development across various sectors in Papua.
"Strong collaboration between the regional government and the MRP is an important foundation for overseeing various regional strategic programs, including improving the quality of education, healthcare services, empowering indigenous community economies, and equitable infrastructure development to realize a Bright Papua," said Fakhiri.
He also expressed appreciation for the support given by the Majelis Rakyat Papua toward the Papua Provincial Government's programs.
Meanwhile, Chairperson of the Majelis Rakyat Papua of Papua Province, Nerlince Wamuar, stated that the support provided by the institution is not merely symbolic, but also accompanied by a commitment to oversee the administration so that it remains aligned with the interests of the Papuan people, especially Indigenous Papuans.
"Continuous dialogue needs to be carried out so that community aspirations can continue to be properly accommodated in every decision-making process," said Nerlince.
She hopes that the meeting will mark the beginning of stronger institutional relations to encourage fair, sustainable, and competitive development in Papua. ***
