JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government has begun improving the efficiency of managing sports venues inherited from PON XX by adjusting operational needs and facility use. This step was taken to reduce maintenance costs, particularly electricity consumption.
Acting Head of the Papua Youth and Sports Office, Laurens Wantik, stated that the adjustments were made by reducing the electrical load capacity at several venues that had previously continued using standards from the PON implementation period.
"The electricity costs of the venues have been significantly reduced after adjustments were made to operational needs," explained Wantik.
According to him, venue management is now divided by usage function, ranging from event facilities and athlete training to standby venues used as needed.
"We have also begun organizing the management system through the Regional Technical Implementation Unit for sports facilities and infrastructure so that facility supervision can be more optimal," he added.
He hopes that these measures will maintain the sustainability of the use of sports venues while also improving the efficiency of regional asset management. ***
