According to him, the development of this digital infrastructure is a concrete step toward building inclusive connectivity for Papua and the eastern region of Indonesia. The presence of this network is considered crucial in reducing regional isolation, enhancing public services, improving education and healthcare, and fostering digital economic growth. He emphasized that strengthening digital connectivity is in line with the vision of the 2025–2029 Regional Medium-Term Development Plan, namely: "The Realization of a Smart, Prosperous, and Harmonious Papua (Papua CERAH)" through the missions of a Responsive, High-Quality, Harmonious, Advanced, and Just Papua.
The Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Angga Raka Prabowo, who also serves as President Commissioner of PT Telkom Indonesia, also expressed appreciation to the regional government, Telkom Indonesia's partners, and Telikom PNG for the realization of the project. He stated that equal digital connectivity has become a priority of the President of Indonesia in supporting national digital transformation.
Meanwhile, the President Director of PT Telkom Indonesia, Dian Siswarini, stated that the Pukpuk Cable is a submarine cable that opens a new Pacific regional backbone corridor through the Jayapura–PNG route while also creating opportunities for inclusive economic growth.
The event was also attended by executives of the Telkom Group, the Consul General of Papua New Guinea for Indonesia, the Indonesian Consul General in Vanimo, and leaders of Telikom PNG.
The Pukpuk Cable has become a symbol connecting the two countries to the global digital network while also strengthening Papua's strategic position in the Pacific region. ***
