JAYAPURA – A community clean-up activity at Lukas Enembe Stadium following the recent unrest brought together around 500–600 people in a strong spirit of unity and concern for one of Papua's proudest public assets. The initiative involved civil servants from the Papua Provincial Government, community groups, churches, and members of the public who worked side by side to clean the stadium area. (10/5)
Based on observations from the Papua Communication and Informatics Office team on site, the front yard of Lukas Enembe Stadium now appears much cleaner, with much of the previously scattered trash successfully removed. Cleaning activities were carried out at several locations to restore cleanliness and comfort throughout the stadium complex.
On the same occasion, the Head of the Papua Provincial Forestry and Environmental Agency, Yaconias Maintindom, explained that the stadium's balcony area could not yet be fully cleaned due to the vast size of the area as well as limitations in time, manpower, and equipment. Therefore, further cleaning efforts will still be needed to fully restore the entire stadium area.
"What matters most today is the spirit of togetherness and the concern shown by all parties in protecting Lukas Enembe Stadium as a proud asset of the Papuan people. Because the stadium area is very large, the clean-up process will naturally be carried out gradually and continuously," said Maintindom.
In addition to support from civil servants, communities, churches, and residents, the activity also received spontaneous assistance from Bank Indonesia Representative Office of Papua, which provided meals and refreshments for the volunteers, along with support from other community elements.
This activity clearly shows the care, solidarity, and collective spirit of the Papuan people in safeguarding regional public assets. We expect the "Papua Solid" spirit to continue growing, reflecting shared optimism to support sports development and maintain public facilities across Papua. ***
