JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government, through the Department of Manpower, Cooperatives, SMEs, and Transmigration, will hold Job Fair 2026 for two days on May 12–13, 2026, at Sasana Krida Hall, Papua Governor's Office.
Acting Head of the Papua Manpower Office Jimmy A.Y. Thesia said that the Job Fair is part of the government's effort to connect job seekers with companies and businesses in need of workers.
"We realize that the available job opportunities are still not proportional to the size of the workforce. But at least there are issues we can help address regarding the workforce that remains unemployed today," he said on Friday (May 8, 2026).
He explained that the available job vacancies come from various sectors, including banking, tourism, hospitality, as well as state-owned and regionally owned enterprises.
A total of 40 companies are scheduled to participate in the Job Fair by offering various employment opportunities according to each company's needs.
Jimmy added that the Papua Provincial Government continues to encourage the creation of an investment-friendly climate and industrial development in Papua as a strategic step to increase employment absorption more broadly and sustainably.
"The most important thing is actually how industries can grow in Papua. If there are industries, employment absorption will become much greater," he said.
The Papua Provincial Government hopes that the Job Fair will help the public gain access to job vacancy information while also serving as a platform to strengthen collaboration between the government and the business sector in supporting employment development in Papua. ***
