JAYAPURA — The Papua Provincial Government has moved quickly to record and repair damage to facilities at the Lukas Enembe Stadium complex following the unrest after the match between Persipura Jayapura and Adhyaksa FC on Friday, May 8, 2026.
Papua Governor Matius D. Fakhiri said the move was part of the government's commitment to maintaining and preserving regional assets so they can continue to be used optimally by the public.
According to him, the asset team, together with the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency, has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive assessment of damaged facilities.
"We will record the losses to provincial government assets caused by yesterday's incident. I have asked the asset team and the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency to calculate the damage, including the large broken glass panels that need to be repaired," Fakhiri said.
He emphasized that the Papua Provincial Government would immediately repair all damaged facilities so that the Lukas Enembe Stadium area could once again serve as a representative center for sports activities and public services.
"I have assigned the Head of the Youth and Sports Office to calculate all the damage so we can replace it immediately. There is no need to blame one another," he said.
In addition to inspecting the main stadium, the Papua Governor also checked several other venues in the Papua Bangkit area, including the shooting venue, aquatic venue, and Papua Bangkit Sports Arena.
The inspection found that the shooting venue was in safe condition, while the aquatic venue sustained damage to its glass section, which will be repaired soon.
"In the future, incidents like this must not happen again," he said. ***
