The enthusiastic welcome symbolized public support for the Papua Provincial Government's commitment to strengthening development and public services, including in Papua's outer islands and coastal regions.
To begin the working visit agenda in Biak Numfor Regency, the Papua Provincial Government and the Biak Numfor Regency Government held a gathering and face-to-face meeting with regional stakeholders.
The activity served as a forum for consolidation as well as for strengthening cross-sector development synergy between the provincial and regency governments in supporting the acceleration of inclusive and sustainable development in Papua.
On that occasion, various program synergies in the fields of energy, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries were also handed over as instruments to drive regional development in Biak Numfor Regency. In addition, the signing of the Regional Grant Agreement Manuscript and the Minutes of Handover of Regional Property were carried out for Starlink internet service devices and supporting equipment at 62 locations, as well as solar panel assistance at 20 locations spread across Biak Numfor Regency.
The Head of the Papua Province Communication and Informatics Office, Jeri Agus Yudianto, explained that the placement of Starlink devices in Biak Numfor Regency was prioritized for island areas and regions that still have limited telecommunications access.
"In Numfor, devices were placed at 13 locations, while in the Padaido Island area and surrounding islands, they were placed at 17 locations. The remaining devices are spread across North Biak, East Biak, and West Biak," he explained.
He further stated that each Starlink installation point is also equipped with an access point to expand internet service coverage for communities around the beneficiary locations. The program has been prepared since the 2024 and 2025 fiscal years through the Papua Provincial Budget under the Budget Implementation Document of the Papua Province Communication and Informatics Office.
According to him, the handover of the digital equipment grant is expected to strengthen digital transformation across various sectors, including health services, education, village empowerment, and the improvement of community digital literacy, as part of efforts to realize a Papua that is increasingly connected and digitally advanced.
