JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government has officially launched a series of events to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence at the provincial level in 2026.
This year's 81st Independence Day commemoration carries the national theme, "A Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia." The event serves as a momentum for the government and the people of Papua to strengthen nationalism, unity, and the spirit of cooperation in advancing the nation's independence.
Various activities have been prepared to enliven the month of independence. In addition to ceremonial events, the Papua Provincial Government is organizing some community-oriented activities, including car-free days, MSME markets, affordable markets, fun walks, public entertainment, blood donation drives, health services, vehicle tax services, banking services, immigration services, and various other public services.
Papua Deputy Governor Aryoko Rumaropen, in his remarks, expressed his appreciation for the wide range of activities that had been prepared to celebrate the 81st Anniversary of Indonesia's Independence.
"I appreciate the various activities that have been prepared, ranging from fun walks, car-free days, and the distribution of the National Flag to blood donation drives, free health services, vehicle tax services, banking services, immigration services, as well as MSME markets and local farmers' markets," Aryoko said.
He emphasized that the entire series of activities reflects the government's commitment to organizing an inclusive Independence Day celebration that can be enjoyed and experienced by all segments of society.
"All of these activities reflect our commitment to ensuring that the Independence Day commemoration provides tangible and direct benefits to the community," he said.
On the occasion, the Deputy Governor also invited all Papuan people to help enliven the month of independence through various positive activities. ***
