JAYAPURA - The Papua Provincial Government has again imposed a motor vehicle tax bleach from August 1 to October 31, 2022.
The relaxation is in the form of exemption from motor vehicle tax (PKB) fines, motor vehicle name reversal duty (BBN-KB) fines, second motor vehicle name reversal duties (BBN-KB II) and fines for compulsory donations of road traffic accident funds (SWDKLLJ) for the past year.
The Head of the Papua Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda), Setiyo Wahyudi, invited the public to take advantage of the relaxation.
"The owner of the motor vehicle will not have to pay a fine if, just pay the main. And the implementation of this relaxation has a validity period," explained Setiyo in Jayapura, Thursday (4/8/2022).
In addition to pursuing the income of Regional Native Income (PAD), he continued, the implementation of the relaxation was influenced by the concern of the Governor of Papua, who through his policy wanted to ease the burden on the people who in the last two years were hit by the Covid-19 "storm".
So it is hoped that through the bleaching of the tax penalty, Papuans can be encouraged to pay off their obligations as taxpayers.
"Hopefully, with this relaxation, it will help those who are starting to move and grow in terms of their economy after Covid-19".
"This kind of policy has been done frequently. But actually the concept is different from the current year. In the past, it was to encourage the level of ability to pay, now in addition to our ability to pay, it is also based on the situation. Nationally, the economy is also being encouraged to grow, but how can the people who must pay the taxes," he explained.
Meanwhile, in 2021, the total realization of motor vehicle tax revenue reached IDR 252 billion. Through the relaxation for two full months, Setiyo is optimistic that motor vehicle tax revenue can exceed the value of the previous year.
"Because after the launch of the exemption from motor vehicle tax fines two days ago, it was recorded that revenues had reached IDR 4.7 billion," he said. ***
