JAYAPURA - President Jokowi officially launched the Papua Football Academy, on Wednesday (31/8/2022) morning at the Lukas Enembe Stadium, Jayapura Regency.

Jokowi ensured that the young talents who had been recruited would receive formal education in addition to practicing football techniques.

Including no less important is the formation of character that later encourages them to become confident, competitive and sportive in their relationship, but also smart in the academic field.

"They will still be in school, so they are expected to be (football) players who have a strong self-determination spirit, a sportive competitive character, but also smart and smart,"

Similarly conveyed by the President Director of PT. Freeport Indonesia Tony Wenas. Football Academy, he continued, will not only train technically about the game of football. But there are academic activities as well as character building to a nationalist spirit.

"Because this has become PTFI's commitment to grow and develop with the Papuan people, including the field of sports," he said.

It is known that the Papua Football Academy is a school for Papuan sons to hone football and formal education to become healthy, sportive, competitive and excels individuals.

They will have the opportunity to join the program for two years and get a full scholarship to practice football and formal education. 

In addition, the Papua Football Academy participants who are recruited will receive dormitory facilities and training facilities at the Mimika Sports Complex built by PTFI. ***
