JAYAPURA - The AIDS Commission of Papua (KPA) is strongly committed to conducting continuous socialization and education about the dangers of the deadly HIV and AIDS.
Socialization and education are considered important, to provide information and encourage changes in one's attitudes and practices in an effort to mature people.
"So that HIV / AIDS socialization and education is interpreted as a change in our attitudes, behaviors, lifestyles after listening to information about HIV AIDS."
"Moreover, the prevalence of HIV and AIDS as of December 2022 is now recorded at 50,502 with the division of men 23,590 and women 26,822," explained Vice Chairman Meki Wetipo, in Jayapura, Wednesday.
According to him, currently, for the age group, aged 25-49, the prevalence rate of HIV and AIDS is the highest, namely 29,107 followed by the age of 20-24 at 11,995. So from the compulsive data above, the top order is in Nabire at 9,287.
Meanwhile, Jayawijaya Regency is in fourth place with 6,883 cases after Jayapura and Mimika.
"For this reason, we currently continue to hold HIV/AIDS socialization and education in most places. Among them are in the student dormitory environment. It is hoped that through this various socialization and education, it can educate students to jointly prevent the spread of HIV and AIDS viruses which are very deadly," he said. ***
