JAYAPURA - The Papua Province contingent is certainly ready to take part in the National Sports Week (Pornas) of the Republic of Indonesia Employee Corps (Korpri) in Semarang City, Central Java Province, on July 13-23, 2023.
Of the 10 sports contested, the Papuan contingent participated in five of them with a target of each obtaining one medal.
According to the Head of the Papua Communication and Informatics Department, Jeri A. Yudianto, various preparations have been made, including starting from the implementation of athlete selection, intensive training in each sport and trials / matches 44 times.
Meanwhile, the Papua Provincial Government has also verified the team of officials, coaches and athletes who will compete with the organizing committee of Pornas Korpri 2023, as the stages set out in the Technical Handbook of Pornas XVI Korpri, which has just passed the first stage of entry.
"The preparation has been maximized by the Papuan team and we are targeting at least one medal for one sport. This event is part of improving the soul of the Korpri Corps and popularizing sports culture among civil servants."
"So by sports, we hope civil servants can be fit and of course will be maximal in doing services to the public," said Jeri.
It is known that the Korpri Papua Pornas is held every two years in odd years, where the 2023 Pornas is the 16th PORNAS.
There are 10 sports contested including Futsal, Field Tennis, Table Tennis, Badminton, Volleyball, Gateball, Chess, KORPRI Gymnastics, Bicycle Racing and Basketball. This national agenda is followed by provincial contingents and ministries/institutions throughout Indonesia.
