JAYAPURA - The Daily Executive of Papua Governor Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun asked the ranks of the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), Community Protection Unit (Satlinmas) and Firefighter (Damkar) in Papua to build active communication with the National Armed and Police Force to create a sense of security ahead of the upcoming 2024 elections.

This is the message of Governor Ridwan, at the commemoration of the 73^rd Anniversary of the Civil Service Police Unit, the 61^st Community Protection Unit, the 104^th of Firefighter and the implementation of the National Disaster Preparedness Day in Papua Province at the Papua Governor's Office Yard, Jayapura, Tuesday (23/5/2023) morning.

Governor Ridwan Rumasukun asked the ranks of the Civil Service Police Unit, Community Protection Unit and Firefighter in Papua to continue to strengthen cooperation with the National Armed and Police Force in facing the elections.  "The goal is to create safe, orderly, democratic conditions within the framework of the Republic of Indonesia."

"Peace, public order and community protection in the regions need to be done by all relevant parties together, especially in facing the upcoming 2024 election," he said.

Finally, the Governor asked all relevant parties in Papua to carry out war movements against fires by prioritizing prevention rather than fire responsiveness.

"Because fires can cause casualties, material losses, loss of livelihoods, economic decline and environmental damage. "

"Even specifically for forest and peatland fires, it can cause catastrophic haze pollution that has an impact on health and transportation, as well as disruption of regional and international economic activities," he said.

Head of Civil Service Police Unit and Papua Regional Disaster Management, Welliam R Manderi hopes that its members can carry out their respective duties and functions professionally, both in terms of organizing public order and also in dealing with disasters.

It also ensures that it will prepare all its members, to face the 2024 elections. "Because they also have a role.  And of course, we will collaborate with the National Armed and Police Force, "he concluded. ***
