JAYAPURA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Papua invites the people to support the implementation of the agricultural census which began on June 1, 2023, simultaneously throughout Indonesia.
This was conveyed by the Head of the Central Bureau of Statistics of Papua Province, Adriana Helena Carolina in Jayapura, on one occasion, Friday.
According to her, the purpose of the agricultural census is very important, the results will be used as a benchmark for current related statistics, as well as providing a sample frame for further survey
"And what needs to be known is that the implementation of the agricultural census is a collaboration between the Central Statistics Agency with the Ministry of Agriculture and the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) so that it is expected to produce better agricultural sector data," she said.
Regarding the number of officers involved in the agricultural census, Adriana confirmed that 4,523 officers took to the field in the New Autonomous Region (DOB).
Most officers will be in Paniai Regency, Central Papua involving 400 officers because the area is in two expansion provinces.
"Paniai Regency has a difficult coverage area, so one officer cannot take data in one district alone".
"Moreover, the method of taking data from door to door or in full, takes a lot of officers in the field, except maybe Jayapura City uses Snowball sampling."
"This means, officers get data from one source such as the village head or information from the community. For example, they have a field whose results will be sold, " she said.
It is known that agricultural census data collection is carried out for residents whose harvest crops are sold to the public. ***
